Systems depressurize, deplete aerosol and propane containers for recycling
Katec Inc. offers aerosol can and propane cylinder recycling systems that remove hazardous chemicals and certify
the depressurized steel canisters for
recycling.
The Aerosolv® system punctures an
aerosol can safely, relieves pressure
from the can, and collects any residual
liquids. A can typically is depleted in
15 to 20 seconds after puncturing. The
solvents can be recycled in the shop
as parts cleaner, and paints can be reclaimed. The empty steel can then is
ready for recycling.
The ProSolv® system removes the
sealing sleeve and internal valve stem
from propane, propylene, MAPP®, and
calibration gas cylinders as it empties
and filters the propellant. It can depres-
surize and recycle 40 spent propane
cylinders before its first filter change,
the company reports. The system pro-
vides recycling certification tags for
each canister recycled to guarantee
pickup by the handler.
