Retaining rings
All Metric Small Parts (aMsp) has announced the availability of 12 off-the-shelf metric spring steel, HRC 46-
52, grooveless retaining rings. The
rings have a black oxide finish and can
be identified as the MKA5DNMGR555
series.
The retaining rings are for external
axial assembly. They are designed to
fit shaft diameters from 2 to 20 mm.
The rings handle axial loads from 50 to
750 N.

Green lift truck design
The Raymond Corp. has developed Eco-Performance, an approach to designing
and engineering lift truck products for
reduced energy consumption and sustainable operations.
In independent third-party testing of
the company’s lift trucks in store-and-retrieve cycles, the Swing-Reach® truck
was found to use up to 40 percent less
energy than competitive models. The
Reach-Fork® truck used up to 21 percent less energy, and the model 4250
stand-up counterbalanced truck used
up to 17 percent less energy.
As shown by the tests, this design
approach enables the lift trucks to require less battery changing, increasing
equipment uptime; reduces the trucks’
CO2 emissions to decrease their carbon
footprint; and allows faster cycle times
for more pallet moves.

Biogas engine
GE has introduced its Waukesha
APG1000 gas engine, which uses a variety of biogases from landfills, wastewater treatment plants, and agricultural
waste.
The 1-MW engine’s expanded biogas capabilities are the result of an
18-month redesign and testing initiative
that included modifications to the combustion chamber, a new spark plug design, and a new fuel control system that
simplifies engine start-up and operation. These modifications were required
to address the operational challenges
of using biogases and were validated
at both landfill and digester biogas-to-energy project sites.
The engine’s greater fuel tolerances
allow it to handle fluctuations in the
thermal quality of the biogas with little
or no manual intervention.

Stormwater roughing
filtration system
StormwateRx LLC offers the Retenu™
stormwater roughing filtration system.
It is designed for use at industrial
sites that produce a high amount of
sediment in stormwater runoff, such as
heavy industry, recycling facilities, and
unpaved sites.
The fully automated, chemical-free
system can be used as a stand-alone
filter to remove heavy sediment loads
or as a pretreatment to help enhance
the performance of the company’s
Aquip® enhanced stormwater filtration
system or Purus® polishing system.
The treatment process uses filtered
stormwater for backwashing, flushing
out accumulated dirt, and concentrating the solids. This process reduces
the concentration of solids in the effluent, removing metals and other particulate pollutants.
Available in several sizes, the system
has a compact footprint and provides
treatment rates from 20 to 500 GPM.

Environmentally certified
cleaning products
3M Building and Commercial Services
Division provides Twist ’n Fill™ cleaning
products that help create safe, clean,
comfortable environments while helping protect facilities and people. The
company has completed certification
from Green Seal, a nationally recognized, not-for-profit environmental organization, on a number of the products
under the GS- 37 standard.
The dispensers help ensure the active PPM required by the EPA. Highly
concentrated formulas help minimize
container waste. Employee contact with
chemicals is limited to improve safety.
An integral air gap in the packaging
helps prevent chemical backflow.
