Blue Giant Equipment Corp. has announced that its dock equipment systems now can contribute toward its
customers’ LEED® certification requirements.
The LEED building rating system recognizes performance in five key areas:
sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality. Certification is based on the total
point score achieved across these five
categories.
The products contribute toward LEED
accreditation in three ways: use of regional materials, biobased fuel and recycled content in their construction materials, and optimized energy performance.
Sites within a 500-mile radius of
the greater Toronto area can qualify for
LEED points by using the company’s
equipment. The manufacturer offers a
biodegradable, vegetable-based oil that
inflicts no environmental damage in the
event of a spill or leak. The company
also uses a biobased, high-resilience
Dock equipment systems contribute to LEED
foam created from soy polyol in the construction of its dock seals and shelters.
The company’s vertical storing dock
levelers contribute to an energy-efficient
environment and positive LEED rating
by limiting the loss of heat or cooling.
The leveler allows refrigerated trucks to
pull directly up to the loading dock and
open their doors into the building, creating an energy-efficient seal.
