Carousel, vertical lift
module systems
Automated storage and retrieval
systems from
KardexRemstar
can help companies build sustainable green
buildings or redesign existing
buildings to meet green standards.
Carousels, Shuttle® vertical lift modules, and the Lektriever® electric lateral
files improve space utilization, allowing
companies to construct smaller, more
energy-efficient buildings, reducing the
construction footprint and conserving
natural resources. In existing buildings,
overhead floor-to-truss space optimization can reclaim up to 85 percent of the
space used by file cabinets, drawers,
and shelving and rack systems.
The systems are designed to deliver
stored items at an ergonomically optimized height to help eliminate bending,
stretching, and reaching.

LED luminaires
Juno Lighting Group®, a subsidiary of
Schneider Electric, has added a series
of architectural 2 by 2 LED luminaires
to its Indy™ product line. Illuminated by
Cree TrueWhite™ technology, the products use up to one-third less energy
and provide five times the service life
of equivalent fluorescent lighting, the
manufacturer states.
Measuring 2 ft. square, the fixtures
offer a true architectural-grade appearance in standard drop-ceiling commercial installations. The 1-ft.-sq. LED light
panel is regressed into the fixture. The
luminaires offer a CRI of 90 and color
temperature of 3500K.

Vacuum ejectors
Piab offers piINLINE™ vacuum ejectors
based on COAX® technology. The products are suited for automated suction
cup handling of plastic and metal products and for pick-and-place operations
in the robotics industry.
The vacuum ejectors come in Midi,
Mini, and Micro sizes. Each size is available with a choice of three options.
The Xi option provides deep vacuum levels, with the final vacuum level
at about 95 percent. It is suitable for
smooth materials such as glass and
plastic. The Si option provides large
flows at low and medium vacuum levels. It is recommended for applications
in which leakage is a significant factor.
The Pi (or Bi, in the smallest models)
option has a low feed pressure of 0.18
to 0.3 MPa and is suitable for factories
in industries with relatively low or fluctuating air pressure.
The smallest model, the Micro, uses
on average 50 percent less energy than
comparable products, according to the
manufacturer, and sound levels are
lower.

Nontoxic cleaning process
Bio-Circle, a wholly owned division
of Walter Surface
Technologies, offers the patented
Bio-Remediation
cleaning process. It eliminates the need
for toxic solvents and reduces dangerous effluent to almost zero.
The process uses microscopic life
forms that digest contaminants and convert them to water with negligible traces
of carbon dioxide. To encourage their reproduction, the liquid is slightly warmed
to 105.8 degrees F, and the water is
given a faint scent of green apples.

Roller deck carts
Kinetic Technologies Inc. has introduced the TrakSteer™ industrial-quality
LoBoy™ roller deck cart for towing up
to 2,000-lb. loads. Four-wheel steering
helps improve tracking of carts in long
trains and assists with cornering or maneuvering in tight aisles.
The HD roller deck is 7. 5 in. off the
floor, with maximum capacity for 48- by
48-in. containers; larger containers fit
outside of frame dimensions.
Standard features include HD floor
lock; manual adjustable load stops;
auto-hitch, and spring-loaded, self-stow-ing towbar.

Wastewater recycling system
A modular wastewater treatment and
recycling system that uses technology
originally designed for the U.S. military
and the oil and gas industry is available
for cities, industrial customers, and other users, says Global Water Group Inc.
The extended-aeration/activated-sludge wastewater treatment system
processes water in half the time of conventional aeration systems, according
to the manufacturer. The system operates in combination with a separate
recycling unit and a purification unit,
resulting in recycled water.
It is applicable for flows of a few
thousand to tens of millions of gallons
per day. It can be constructed with standard configurations or engineered for
custom-designed configurations.
