Waste oil-burning steam
generator
Sioux Corp. has introduced a waste-oil
burner option to its line of steam generators. Waste oil, if readily available, is
an option to eliminate fuel costs while
providing hot water or steam for an operation. The Steam-Flo® produces 345
lbs. of saturated steam per hour and
burns 2. 9 gal. per hour of waste oil.
Each unit is inspected by Hartford
Boiler Inspector and registered with the
National Board of Boiler and Pressure
Vessel Inspectors, meets requirements
of CSD-1 of the ASME code, and is built
to Section IV of the ASME code.

Point cloud data integration
Autodesk Inc. and Faro Technologies
Inc. have collaborated to add direct integration of point cloud data to AutoCAD®
2011 software. The software allows the
direct import of binary scan data from
Faro Scene, the scan processing software for the company’s laser scanner.
The software supports up to 2 billion points, which can be used with the
enhanced tools for 3-D modeling to
enable high-performance usage of the
scan data.
Data collected by the laser scanner
goes directly into the software, eliminating the need for a neutral space-consuming file format.

Nox-Rust® EV9 from Daubert Cromwell
is a soybean-based, environmentally
safe corrosion preventive oil that protects metal parts and equipment while
in storage and transit.
The oil is formulated with esters of
soybean and other organic materials,
making it safe for use without special handling or protective equipment. The product is formulated with edible, food-grade
soybean oil, highly refined, bleached,
and deodorized. It does not give off foul
odors and will not stain metal.

Absorbent pads
Oil Eater Naturals from Kafko Intl. Ltd.
is a new line of ecofriendly absorbent
pads, rolls, and socks made of natural plant byproducts. Featuring woven
construction, the pads are designed to
help provide a safe, clean workplace
while helping users meet OSHA and
EPA requirements.
The line includes oil-only pads and
rolls, which soak up oil and repel water;
universal pads and rolls, which soak up
oil, water, and other liquids; and absorbent socks for controlling larger spills
and protecting drains.
The pads absorb up to 20 percent
more than melt-blown polypropylene
pads, the company says.

Dock leveler gap seal
One of the biggest sources of energy
loss in a plant, distribution center, or
commercial building is at the dock
doorway. If a dock has pit levelers, the
gap between the leveler and the pit wall
provides an escape route for building
HVAC energy, costing thousands of dollars a year.
The ENERGY GUARD™ from Kelley
Co. provides a perimeter seal along the
sides and rear hinge of the dock leveler
to block dirt, debris, and insects and
prevent energy loss. The design closes
off the gaps between the dock leveler
and concrete pit walls typically missed
by traditional weather seal or under-lev-eler seals attached to the front of the
dock leveler. It prevents the mass flow
of air, minimizing the transfer of heat
and energy into and out of the facility.

vegetable-based oils. The coolants are
