Renewable honing fluid
Sunnen has introduced SHO-
500, a general-purpose honing
fluid based on a
renewable vegetable formulation. The fluid is formulated without
such additives as sulfur, chlorine, and
fluorine. It is suitable for honing applications in which additives cannot be
used, such as nuclear and some aerospace parts, or those in which company
policies discourage use of fluids with
such additives.
The fluid can be used with conventional vitrified honing abrasives and
metal-bond superabrasives. It is available in 5-gal. pails, 55-gal. drums, and
330-gal. totes.

Liquid surfactant
AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry has introduced a concentrated liquid surfactant product that provides an environmentally friendly cleaning alternative to
heavy-duty degreasers containing high-VOC petrochemical solvents.
Readily biodegradable Berol® HD
mixes with builders and water to form
aqueous degreasing formulations for
heavy-duty, low-VOC cleaning performance. The cleaner removes tar and
bugs from automobiles and is effective
at removing greasy soils.
